Celebrating 10 years of bringing you Japanese Soul Food!
Miniyaki's started on our mission to show that their was more to Japanese cuisine than 'just sushi' in 2013 when we started doing 'Japan Nights' in our home to show our friends the, at the time, lesser known everyday Japanese dishes that I enjoyed during my 10 years living and working in Osaka in the 1990's.
On the back of this, a local landlord of 'Ye old Ferrie Inn', a beautiful riverside pub in Symonds Yat West, invited me come to and try my dishes out on his customers from his icecream kiosk . So Miniyaki's was born!
Eventually we spread our wings a bit and started doing local events from a Gazebo and then in 2018 Caterpods from Lydney in the Forest of Dean bespoke built our very own Caterpod and the rest is history!
We now travel here and there doing public & private events and during lockdown, when we couldn't attend any events, we started doing take outs. It was during this time, with the need for outdoor social distancing places to go, that my partner and I thought of setting something up at the bottom of our garden. My partner co owns a concrete business on The Doward called E&I Williams and so he made a row of cast stone tables and benches, we put our Caterpod at the bottom of the garden and our 'Alfresco Dining Events' were born.
Post Covid was a different world for us and we found our niche in pub, campsite, cafe, garden centre pop ups and of course weddings and private events, as apposed to our former schedule of festivals and public events.
Alfresco Dining Events also adapted and we started having a guest bar attending our occassional events in our woodland bordered garden. Where guests can enjoy a meal & drink under our Japanese lantern and fairy light filled trees
This year we will continue with a few Alfresco Dining Events and 1 very special one on the 24th June !
